Scoring
What does a score of 100 mean?
100 means you matched your own baseline. 110 means you did 10% better than your baseline, 95 means 5% below. Every score in Arete is measured against you, never against other people.
Why does an exercise say it's calibrating?
Each exercise needs three sessions to set its baseline. On the third session the baseline is fixed, and all three sessions are scored at once. Until then the exercise shows an hourglass.
What's the difference between intensity and volume?
Intensity is how hard your best set was: your estimated one-rep max, your reps, or your time. Volume is how much work you did in total. Your Fitness Level is the average of your 14-day intensity and volume scores.
Does skipping an exercise or editing a routine hurt my score?
No. A skipped exercise simply isn't counted. Adding, removing, reordering or renaming exercises in a routine never changes your scores.
I made a typo in a finished workout. Can I fix it?
Yes. Open the workout in History and edit the set. Scores are recalculated automatically. You can also delete a workout, which recalculates everything after it.
iCloud sync & backups
How do I sync between my iPhones?
Sign into the same Apple Account on both phones with iCloud turned on, then open Arete on both. Sync runs through your private iCloud. It can take a few minutes, especially the first time or on cellular data. Keep the app open on both phones for a moment after a change.
My data isn't showing up on my new phone.
Check that iCloud is on for your Apple Account and that Arete is allowed to use cellular data (Settings › Arete). Open Arete and give it a few minutes on Wi-Fi. In Arete's Settings, the iCloud section shows the latest sync status.
How do backups work?
In Settings › Backups you have two manual backup slots and one automatic weekly backup, stored in your iCloud Drive. Resetting all data also saves a backup first if you choose. Restoring a backup replaces everything currently in the app with that backup.
How do I delete all my data?
In Arete, go to Settings › Reset All Data. This deletes your workouts, routines and scores on this iPhone and in iCloud. See the Privacy Policy for how to remove backup files too.
Arete Pro & purchases
How does the free trial work?
The 30-day trial is free and doesn't renew into a paid plan. The 30 days start with your first workout after you start the trial. When it ends, Pro stays unlocked until you finish your next workout.
I bought Pro but it isn't unlocked.
Open Settings in Arete and tap Restore Purchases, making sure you're signed into the same Apple Account you bought it with. If it still doesn't unlock, email me and I'll sort it out.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your iPhone, open Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions, choose Arete, and tap Cancel. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
How do I get a refund?
Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
I can't afford Pro right now.
That's completely okay. Email me and I'll send you a code for a 3-month trial.
